The Claims Specialist will be an integral part of the Complex Claims Unit (CCU), focusing on the management of construction defect claims. Our specialized team deals with complex cases that involve both property damage and bodily injury, necessitating in-depth contract analysis and thorough understanding of various insurance coverages. These claims are often intricate and demand subject matter expertise, presenting both challenges and opportunities for resolution. Key Responsibilities: Deliver proactive communication and assistance to customers as well as business partners throughout the claims process. Provide prompt and responsive service to customer inquiries, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. Analyze multiple complex insurance policies and coverage components. Draft concise and articulate coverage positions. Conduct thorough investigations regarding claims and legal matters. Oversee litigation management, including strategy planning, budgeting, and executing resolutions. Assess coverage, liability, and damages, providing strategic recommendations to leadership. Pursue opportunities for coverage and liability risk transfer among other involved parties and insurers. Engage in complex negotiations and clearly communicate coverage and liability perspectives. Participate in mediations and trials as required. Manage financial aspects such as expenses and reserves effectively. Maintain up-to-date claims metrics consistently. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred; a J.D. or CRIS designation is an asset. 5+ years of experience in general liability claim handling is strongly preferred, with a focus on construction defect claims being highly desirable. Experience in handling affirmative and defensive risk transfer is beneficial. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional analytical and critical thinking abilities. Ability to present effectively in discussion settings with well-reasoned evaluations. Excellent customer service and active listening skills. Proficient in time management and organizational skills. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities. Proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. Active Property & Casualty State Insurance Adjuster license is preferred. Work Environment: This role may offer a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates residing near our office locations (Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Phoenix, AZ; Naperville, IL) should expect to work in-office 3 days a week (Tuesday to Thursday). Those living beyond commuting distance will have a fully remote arrangement, with occasional office visits as necessary. Compensation: The annualized base pay range for this role is $84,000 - $126,000, determined through external market analysis and may vary based on performance and demonstrated competencies. In addition to base pay, we offer a total compensation package including bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition rewards.
