Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist to support our talented Claims team in providing outstanding service to clients. This position is available in our offices located at Rockwood, PA, Omaha, NE, Richmond, VA, and Springfield, MO. You will play a pivotal role in adjudicating complex workers' compensation claims across multiple jurisdictions, including CO, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, MT, PA, UT, and WV, with a particular focus on the coal-mining industry. Approximately 20% of the claims handled will fall under the federal black lung program. At our company, we prioritize the health and well-being of employees facing work-related injuries or illnesses. Our dedicated team works collaboratively to ensure effective loss control and claims management, setting us apart in this specialized market. Key Responsibilities: Adjudicate complex indemnity and medical-only workers' compensation claims with minimal technical direction, ensuring superior outcomes and exceptional customer service. Analyze claims trends, identify loss drivers, and develop strategies to mitigate claims frequency and severity. Conduct thorough investigations and interviews to ascertain claim validity and ensure comprehensive documentation. Manage claims in litigation effectively, utilizing negotiation skills to reach positive financial resolutions. Create and maintain reserves according to industry standards and company policies. Provide regular reports on claim trends and developments to senior management and other departments. Engage proactively in claims management, ensuring timely task completion and appropriate prioritization of workload. Foster robust relationships with clients and brokers, focusing on their specific needs and providing value-added solutions. Qualifications: A minimum of five years of experience adjudicating workers' compensation claims in any of the following jurisdictions: CO, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, MT, PA, UT, and/or WV. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience in claims adjudication. Must be licensed in KY or be able to obtain the necessary license quickly. Exceptional communication skills, with an emphasis on building long-lasting relationships. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing complex claims issues. Proficient in the MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications. A demonstrated commitment to professional development and continued education in the field.
