PRIMARY PURPOSE: As a Property Claims Adjuster Trainee, you will manage losses and claims valued up to $15,000 for property and casualty insurers. This involves a detailed examination of documents, records, loss reports, and other relevant documentation, all while utilizing technology for efficient claim processing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluate insurance policies and claims forms to determine coverage. Conduct thorough investigations, consult police and hospital records, and inspect physical damage or written estimates to assess the extent of liability. Communicate effectively with claimants and witnesses via interviews, phone calls, and correspondence. Estimate costs for repair, replacement, or compensation. Prepare reports of findings and negotiate claim settlements, issuing checks and filing regulatory documents as necessary. Recommend litigation when settlements cannot be negotiated. Attend litigation hearings and participate in depositions as needed. Adjust case reserves in assigned claims files. Manage an expected caseload efficiently. Utilize technology and automation tools for effective claim handling. Submit claims exceeding $15,000 for leadership approval. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. You must obtain the IIA-AIC designation within 12 to 18 months of starting the role and possess the appropriate state adjuster license. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in handling property and casualty claims is a plus but not mandatory. Skills & Knowledge: Empathetic approach to claims handling. Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other PC applications. Analytical and interpretive abilities. Negotiation skills. Ability to create and finalize comprehensive, accurate written reports. Team collaboration skills. Capacity to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
