Ratio = 1:31:5-6 for Floor (EMU)"Required Certifications"BLS is required, ACLS & NIHSS are preferred NOTE: This unit would require all Stepdown qualified RN's"Common diagnoses/Types of patientsHigher acuity Neuroscience patients, EVDs (experience preferred; however, perm staff would probably be assigned these patients), TPA (any patient that would be 24 hours post TPA would be managed by perm staff only), Strokes, EMU, Seizures, Craniotomy'sExperience or 'Must have' skillsNeed to have overall strong Neuro experienceAre RNs required to titrate drips?Titration is only done by physician's orders in a step-down setting. There may be some protocols that allow for titration, but they would educate on that. Common titratable &/or set rate dripsAmiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, InsulinCharge Nurse/House SupervisorCharge Nurse 24/7Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios"Yes - 4 per shiftRatios 1:8-9"RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc.)RT is available 24/7 - States they get "floor Vents" - RN's are not required to have vent experience. When there are floor vents they are usually on a set setting. These are managed by RT & physician. If they require changes they will go back to the ICU.Is there tele on this unit? Monitor techs? RNs read strips?There is tele on this unit - per notes from facility RN's do not have to read stripsShifts & Scheduling"Nights - 3, 12's from 7p-7:30a They would allow 3 shifts in a row but this is not a guarantee. Travelers need to be flexible.
