Job Responsibilities Responsible and accountable for the timely procurement of materials and supplies to meet the requirements of the business. Analyzes MRP and applies planning logic to execute financial purchasing decisions in support of planned production. Assist the factory and production scheduling team through effective communication of supply variation and risk mitigation. Understand how to balance price breaks with monthly demand to optimize volume for price and inventory levels/risk. Manage and evaluate supplier relationships and day-to-day performance; participate in regular supplier meetings to review purchase orders and forecasts, make and communicate changes as necessary to support the business. Works with internal departments and suppliers to resolve quality problems and shipping and accounting discrepancies; coordinates material return for rework or credit. Collaborates with the Strategic Sourcing Team on cost savings opportunities, delivery, and reduced lead times with vendors. Initiates projects as needed to leverage cost reduction opportunities, eliminate non-value-add, and to raise performance and communication within the function. Supports the development and ongoing reporting of key performance metrics, working with the Analytics team as needed. Qualifications A bachelor's degree in supply chain or other Business-related degree, and more than 3 years of experience as a Purchaser/Buyer in an MRP environment is required, with manufacturing environment experience preferred. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered. APICS or ISM certification is a plus. Demonstrated ability to use the MRP system for planning, purchasing, and inventory management. Strong understanding of MRP logic. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong math and analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure, balancing conflicting priorities and resource constraints. Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. Basic understanding of accounting principles for inventory valuation. Solid understanding of flow principles, daily rates, point of use material, cycle time, replenishment systems, backflush, etc. Ability to engage professionally in person and on MS Teams. Working Conditions Working Environment: Office Position Physical Demands: Lifting to 25 lbs. Sitting and talking on the phone for long periods of time. Data entry for long periods of time. Travel Requirements: As needed, less than 5% of the time.
