Responsibilities As a motivated Master's student in the National Security Internship Program (NSIP), you will have the chance to: Apply advanced computational, statistical, and mathematical techniques to tackle intricate problems. Develop creative coding solutions that make a difference. Engage in cyber competitions that enhance your skills. Create compelling data visualizations that tell stories. Work with big data and optimize solutions across various critical domains. Internships will commence in May or June 2026 and will form a collaborative cohort experience. Diverse Focus Areas: As an intern, you may choose to specialize in one of six technical groups: Math, Stats, and Data Science: Engage in mathematical modeling and computational statistics to solve real-world challenges. Applied AI Systems: Develop robust models that convert complex data into actionable insights for operational settings. Foundational Data Science: Innovate algorithms and tools for understanding and leveraging large datasets. Software Engineering & Architectures: Construct scalable cloud-based solutions for extensive data analysis and operational support. Human Centered Computing: Design innovative visualizations and interactions to facilitate deeper data insights. Operational Readiness & Enablement: Ensure high-quality solutions through best software development practices. Positions are based in Richland or Seattle, WA. Work is primarily on-site, with remote arrangements considered only under rare circumstances.
