About the Role: We are developing a cutting-edge data governance platform that empowers customers to oversee the structure, policy, and discoverability of their real-time data. This essential platform facilitates the creation, management, and enforcement of schemas and policies, enabling effective tagging, discoverability, and data sharing across organizations. We are looking for an engineering leader to work closely with our Product team to establish the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the next generation of governance features and services. You will ensure that our current systems are reliable and secure while overseeing the design, development, and operations of technologies utilized in various environments, including cloud and on-premises configurations. What You Will Do: Lead a high-performing, global team of software engineers and engineering leaders. Drive the strategic direction of Governance at Confluent and collaborate with internal stakeholders. Encourage technical innovation in governance and adjacent technologies to create competitive advantages. Enhance schema management and enforcement processes. Continue strong growth by recruiting top-tier engineers and establishing quality standards and operational maturity. What You Will Bring: Over 10 years of engineering management experience leading productive and high-functioning teams. Proven ability to maintain high hiring standards while mentoring and managing engineering performance. Strong expertise in distributed systems design and development. Track record of consistently delivering features on schedule. A sense of urgency and excellent prioritization skills to achieve results. Ability to anticipate and address future technical needs for our products based on customer requirements. Vision to set customers up for long-term success through ongoing technical and product innovation. Preferred experience in managing production services within public cloud environments.
