Deputy Project Manager

Trillium Construction is now seeking a Deputy Project Manager for direct-hire in Newark, NJ (Project Site - Newark International Airport)! Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 (depending on experience). We are seeking an experienced Deputy Project Manager (DPM) to support the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale infrastructure construction projects at Newark International Airport. The Deputy Project Manager works closely with the Project Manager and field leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual and quality requirements. This role serves as a key liaison between field operations, subcontractors, project stakeholders, and internal teams while supporting cost control, scheduling, contract administration, and project documentation. Key Responsibilities Project Coordination & Execution -Assist the Project Manager with overall project planning, coordination, and delivery -Coordinate daily activities between field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers -Support development and maintenance of project schedules and work plans -Monitor project progress and identify potential risks, delays, and mitigation strategies -Participate in project meetings with clients, engineers, and stakeholders Cost Control & Commercial Management -Track project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports -Assist with procurement, subcontract administration, and purchase orders -Support preparation and negotiation of change orders and claims -Review subcontractor invoices to ensure alignment with project progress and contract terms -Assist with managing project cash flow and financial performance Contract Administration -Interpret contract documents, drawings, and technical specifications -Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements -Maintain organized project documentation, correspondence, and logs Field & Operations Support -Work closely with Superintendents and Field Engineers to align field execution with project plans -Conduct site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality standards -Assist with coordination of inspections, testing, and commissioning activities Safety & Quality -Promote and enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards -Support implementation of project-specific safety plans and quality control programs -Participate in safety meetings, audits, and project reviews Apply now! Qualifications -Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred -15+ years of experience in civil construction with a General Contractor -Experience on heavy civil, transportation, infrastructure, or large-scale public works projects (transit, highways, bridges, airport terminals, utilities, etc.) -Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost control practices -Experience with construction management software such as Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms -Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and technical documents -Familiarity with CPM scheduling and project controls -Experience with change order management and claims support -OSHA 30 certification preferred; PMP certification is a plus -Strong organizational and multitasking abilities -Excellent communication and leadership skills -Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability in fast-paced project environments -Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills Trillium has been recruiting and placing professionals for over 30 years.
