Job Description Join our team as a Senior Protection and Controls Electrical Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical foundation for large-scale data centers. Your expertise will guide on-site generation, high voltage substations, energy storage systems, and medium/low voltage distribution. You will be responsible for defining protection philosophies and standards, ensuring uniform implementation across various projects, and providing technical validation for protection designs, settings, and commissioning processes. Additionally, you will support reliable microgrid operations in multiple modes, including grid-connected, islanded, and black start scenarios, while leading incident response initiatives focused on root cause analysis and corrective strategies. Responsibilities Establish and uphold protection and controls standards to ensure best practices. Define the protection and controls philosophy, covering scheme selection, coordination principles, operating assumptions, and system behavior under varying conditions. Review and finalize protection design packages from developers, EPCs, OEMs, and consultants, tackling technical gaps and outstanding issues. Develop, validate, and maintain relay settings and documentation across all protection zones. Utilize oscillography, SER, and disturbance records for post-event analysis, turning insights into effective corrective measures. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts; evaluate existing facilities and recommend necessary upgrades. Collaborate with operations and design engineering teams to enhance reliability outcomes and promote standard practices across projects. Minimum qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. 10-15 years of protective and controls engineering experience with substations and large-scale electrical systems. Proven ability to protect on-site generation systems and support various microgrid operational modes. Experience developing relay settings, protection logic, and commissioning plans. Familiarity with IEEE standards and utility interconnection practices is necessary; experience with NERC compliance is a plus. Preferred qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience with IEC 61850 and related integration technologies. Compensation and Benefits The US hiring range for this position is between $120,100 and $251,600 annually, with potential eligibility for bonuses, equity, and compensation deferral.
