About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic Senior Environmental Claims Specialist to join our innovative team, with the flexibility to work from any of our offices in Albany, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or Springfield (MO). Additionally, candidates may also work remotely from anywhere within the continental United States. You will report to a manager based in New York City and focus on adjudicating both first and third party commercial environmental claims, primarily complex storage tank claims, ensuring we deliver exceptional results for our clients. Key Responsibilities: Adjudicate high-level commercial environmental claims with minimal oversight, addressing complex issues with significant departmental impact. Conduct thorough investigations, gathering detailed information and analyzing data to resolve undefined issues. Report on claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters. Review claims forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to assess policy coverage related to losses. Promptly investigate claims by interviewing all involved parties. Manage claims undergoing litigation effectively. Ensure timely management of tasks to achieve optimal financial outcomes and quick resolutions. Set accurate claim reserves, accounting for how policy wordings affect the reserving process. Identify loss drivers and claims trends to enhance claims management and reduce frequency and severity through data analysis. Assign and coordinate expert resources to assist in case resolution. Prepare comprehensive reports for file documentation. Apply innovative solutions to achieve the best financial outcomes. Negotiate efficiently to provide cost-effective solutions that benefit both the company and customers. Manage mail processing and prioritize the workload effectively. Engage in written and verbal communications with various parties, including insureds and claimants. Maintain a strong focus on effective claim management. Qualifications: At least seven years of experience in adjudicating commercial environmental claims with exposures of $100,000 or more. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required; a J.D. is preferred. Additional relevant insurance designations or equivalent experience may substitute for education. Must be a Licensed Claims Examiner (as required by state). Ability to obtain necessary licenses within 120 days. Strong business acumen with an understanding of the insurance industry and the financial implications of claims management. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Compensation: The base salary range for this position is dependent on geographic location and will reflect the candidate's experience level.
