THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MANATEE COUNTYLocal Title: ASSISTANT, CLERICAL II (TRANSPORTATION)State Title: Clerk TransportationJOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL: To provide specialized and advanced clerical work involving complex work methods and problems related to the area of assignment. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or approved equivalency diploma with some training or course work in business or other commercial subjects. Minimum of one (1) year of successful clerical experience. Comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the processes and procedures of the unit to which assigned. Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic. Knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to type at a prescribed rate of speed. Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel and the public both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare reports and correspondence. Knowledge of file maintenance techniques and procedures. Ability to perform arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy. Ability to carry out job responsibilities and handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Skill in the use of office machines and equipment. Ability to lead subordinate personnel. Skill in using electronic office equipment including PCs. REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation Assigned Administrator SUPERVISES: N/A PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare, process, and maintain specialized and complex records, forms, card systems, and reports. Post entries to records and make revisions and updates as needed. Interpret rules, regulations and procedures of the unit to which assigned. Coordinate with school system personnel, vendors and the public concerning duties and procedures of the unit to which assigned. Type bids, purchase orders and requisitions as required. Maintain files and prepare departmental reports and statistical data. Provide technical information and answer detailed inquiries regarding the operation of the unit. Relieve the supervisor of clerical and administrative details. Perform computer data entry, word processing and text management activities on video terminals and/or microcomputers. Ensure adherence to good safety standards. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Represent the district in a positive and professional manner. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner. Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events. Follow federal and state laws as well as School Board policies, rules and regulations. Demonstrate support for the school district and its goals and objectives. Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
