Job Description We are looking for a talented Purchasing Director to lead our procurement efforts for a prominent hydraulic manufacturing company. This organization specializes in designing and manufacturing hydraulic systems and components for industrial and heavy equipment markets. This is a pivotal leadership position where you will drive procurement strategy, manage supplier relationships, and optimize supply chain performance in a dynamic manufacturing setting. Relocation to Iowa is a requirement for this role. Candidates should be prepared for relocation, with assistance available for the right fit. Why Join Us? Make a direct impact on operational efficiency and profitability Gain visibility and influence within the operations and executive teams Be part of a reputable and stable manufacturing organization Have the opportunity to forge strategic supplier partnerships Engage in a sector with robust growth potential in hydraulic and fluid power Key Responsibilities: Strategic Procurement Leadership: Design and implement purchasing strategies that align with production forecasts Sourcing of hydraulic components such as pumps, cylinders, valves, manifolds, hoses, and fittings Negotiate pricing agreements and establish long-term contracts Lead initiatives for cost reduction Supplier Management: Assess supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery Oversee RFQs and conduct bid analyses Execute dual-source strategies Carry out supplier reviews and implement corrective measures as needed Inventory & Cost Control: Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained Minimize excess and obsolete inventory Monitor trends in commodities such as steel, aluminum, and brass Track and enhance purchase price variance (PPV) Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Engineering for new product sourcing Coordinate with Operations on scheduling and lead times Support Quality initiatives through supplier accountability Team up with Finance on budgeting and forecasting Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement within manufacturing Experience in hydraulic systems, fluid power, or heavy industrial manufacturing is preferred Demonstrated strength in contract negotiation Knowledge of machining, fabrication, casting, and assembly processes Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) Strong analytical capabilities and leadership skills A willingness to relocate to Iowa Email your resume to the recruitment team We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
