Job Description

RK&K is seeking a talented Water Resources Engineer with expertise in Stream Restoration and Stormwater Management to join our dynamic Environmental Water Resources team. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to advance your career while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, GIS professionals, and planners in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and support ecological and stream restoration projects, working closely with a diverse project team. Conduct fieldwork including physical surveys of streams, assess existing conditions, and perform functional assessments to develop and implement effective restoration design solutions. Manage and contribute to environmental restoration design projects such as stream, floodplain, wetland, and shoreline restoration, as well as stormwater management initiatives. Prepare design reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for project delivery. Execute watershed evaluations and water quality monitoring to enhance stormwater management and ecosystem restoration efforts. Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support ecological restoration initiatives. Engage and communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and local communities, while gathering essential field data. Oversee project management tasks, ensuring high-quality solutions for all stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrology, or a related field. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in ecological stream restoration and stormwater management within a consulting environment. Proficient knowledge in stream restoration design, fluvial geomorphology, and sediment transport. Experience with project designs related to streams, floodplains, wetlands, living shorelines, and stormwater management practices. Field experience conducting geomorphic and functional stream assessments and overseeing environmental restoration construction. Familiarity with CAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, and ESRI software tools. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. A collaborative mindset as well as the ability to work independently and thrive in outdoor settings. Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or similar discipline. Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in ecological stream restoration and stormwater management consulting. Rosgen Training (Levels 1-4) or similar stream restoration training. Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software like HEC-RAS 1D & 2D. Professional Engineer (P.E.) Registration or the ability to obtain it within 12 months from employment.
