Our company provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide, focusing on planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management. We proudly support the US Department of Defense (DOD) and various federal agencies. We are currently looking for a skilled Consultant: Construction Claims Specialist to support the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrade project at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (JBVAMC) in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring contractor compliance with quality, schedule, and safety standards. You will assist in evaluating and resolving construction-related claims and issues throughout the project lifecycle, contributing your expertise in a primarily remote capacity with minimal on-site visits. This position is ideal for professionals seeking flexible work hours while providing valuable expertise with fewer travel obligations. Project Duration: Approximately 200 hours per year Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough claims review and legal defense analysis for construction projects. Perform Cause and Effect Analysis, Cost and Schedule Integration, and Entitlement Analysis. Present at least three (3) projects where you served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) defending the owner against claims. Support the dispute resolution process and offer expert recommendations to the project team. Occasionally visit JBVAMC as necessary (approximately 15 full-day visits over the contract period). Provide expert claims review and legal defense analysis for construction projects. Qualifications to be successful in the role: Minimum of 15 years of experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or claims and litigation. Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related technical field. In-depth understanding of construction claims review, legal defense processes, and dispute resolution techniques. Proven capability to analyze project claims, costs, and schedules in detail. Excellent communication skills with a background in presenting complex technical information effectively. Why Planate?
