About the Role: As the Lead Automation Engineering Manager, you will spearhead strategic leadership and provide technical direction for automation engineering teams across various regions. You will oversee both site-based and regional automation engineers and managers, fostering operational excellence within our fulfillment network. Your role will involve establishing key standards, best practices, and technical frameworks to ensure consistent and high-performing teams. You will engage with cutting-edge technologies, such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms. Through your strategic vision and technical expertise, you will contribute significantly to maintaining Amazon's hallmark of speed and accuracy, while also enhancing the organization’s capabilities and driving operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Lead and develop multiple teams of automation engineering managers and engineers across regions, establishing training programs, mentorship frameworks, and career development pathways to enhance technical capabilities and leadership skills. Provide expert direction and technical support for complex engineering issues across the network, driving technician standard work, root cause analysis, and implementing scalable solutions to reduce critical asset downtime. Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for automation teams across your network, ensuring compliance with operational standards and targets. Champion the adoption of control systems standards, optimal code/parameter sets, and technical frameworks for PLC/PC controllers, SCADA/OEE platforms, and material handling systems. Execute network-wide continuous improvement initiatives intended to upskill the organization and support large-scale projects, coordinating cross-functional teams and managing relationships with stakeholders to achieve business objectives and operational excellence, with a willingness to travel up to 80% to ensure consistent implementation of standards and best practices across various facilities and regions. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent experience with 10+ years in PLC programming or automation engineering. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays. 10+ years of experience in industrial controls and automation. 10+ years in a process or production environment related to PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis. 10+ years working with robotics work cells and control systems. 10+ years of experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys Ladder Logic and structured programming. 10+ years in electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment. 10+ years in leading engineering teams or managing technical personnel. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering. MBA or Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Experience with HMI and control network components, including maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and design. Proficiency in programming software such as RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other controls platforms. Experience with manufacturing or complex industry-leading controls at a multi-site or network level. Skills in developing technical standards and best practices for large-scale automation systems. The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and location.
