Workday Compensation Business Systems Analyst / Product Owner Type: Contract Category: Business Analysis Industry: Technology Workplace Type: Remote Date Posted: 02/17/2026 Description: Join our team as a Workday Compensation Business Systems Analyst / Product Owner, where you will have the opportunity to drive innovation and optimization within Workday Core and Advanced Compensation. This pivotal role connects HR, Finance, and People Technology, allowing you to leverage your expertise to enhance compensation strategies and solutions. This is a W2 position, and we comply with client requirements. (W2) Responsibilities: Lead as the BSA/Product Owner for Workday's Core and Advanced Compensation programs, including merit, bonus, stock, and one-time payment initiatives. Manage the configuration of compensation plans, grades, eligibility rules, and review processes to ensure alignment with organizational strategies. Collaborate closely with HR and Total Rewards teams to translate compensation strategies into effective, scalable Workday solutions. Conduct thorough requirements gathering with various stakeholders, including HR, Finance, Payroll, and Legal. Convert business requirements into functional designs ready for configuration. Analyze how changes affect Payroll, Time and Absence, Reporting, and integrations. Oversee end-to-end testing processes, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing for compensation events and annual cycles. Act as the Product Owner for Workday Compensation in the People Technology portfolio. Maintain and prioritize the product backlog for enhancements, defects, and optimization tasks. Partner with engineering, HRIS, and vendors to successfully deliver roadmap initiatives using Agile practices. Evaluate new Workday releases and features, providing recommendations based on business value. Serve as the primary contact for compensation system decisions, clearly communicating tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership. Support executive-level reporting, pay equity analysis, and ensure audit readiness. Experience Requirements: A minimum of 6 years’ experience in Workday HCM, specializing in Compensation. Hands-on experience in configuring Core and Advanced Compensation, as well as managing compensation review cycles. Previous experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Product Manager, or HRIS Lead. Extensive experience leading annual merit and bonus cycles in Workday. Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills. Experience with global compensation programs is a plus. Familiarity with Time Tracking, Absence, Payroll, or Reporting dependencies is preferred. Agile and product management experience, including ownership of the backlog and sprint planning, is highly valued. Workday certification in Compensation or HCM is preferred.
