Traffic Engineer I

RK&K is excited to invite applications for the role of Traffic Engineer I in our dynamic transportation group. As a valued member of our team, you will play a key role in collaborating with both public and private agencies on diverse design and engineering projects. This position will particularly focus on Temporary Traffic Control and Maintenance of Traffic for construction projects. Essential Functions Engage in a variety of tasks that include creating traffic engineering design plans and conducting preliminary engineering analysis. Support multi-modal travel initiatives, encompassing highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian pathways in urban, suburban, and rural settings. Develop documentation and design plans for traffic control devices such as traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS). Prepare technical reports and captivating presentations. Required Skills and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. 0 to 5 years of relevant traffic engineering experience. Outstanding writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills, including public speaking capabilities. Familiarity with the Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and AASHTO guidelines. Possession of Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months. Preferred Skills and Experience Internship experience that focuses on transportation design is advantageous.
