Position Overview The Estimator for Commercial Construction Materials plays a vital role in driving the success of our construction projects by providing detailed and accurate material take-offs, interpreting construction documents, and working closely with our sales and project teams. We are seeking a candidate who possesses strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the confidence to navigate complex construction plans and specifications. Key Responsibilities Perform detailed take-offs for commercial framing projects, ensuring adherence to company standards and building regulations. Analyze construction documents to identify necessary materials and enhance bidding accuracy. Detect and correct discrepancies in material lists prior to submission. Compile comprehensive documentation to support contractor bids and proposals. Collaborate effectively with outside sales representatives regarding project structures and material components. Monitor take-off progress, assist with project coordination, and provide customer support. Contribute to data management and documentation for internal systems. Educate contractors on material specifications and best practices. Manage estimating and take-off software programs efficiently. Evaluate actual material usage versus estimates after project completion. Execute additional tasks as needed. Qualifications At least 2 years of education in Architectural Design or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in the industry. Strong knowledge of construction documents, building design concepts, and industry terminology. Familiarity with structural systems and engineered wood products, such as I-joists. Understanding of regional and local building codes. Proficiency in basic mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry. Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Exceptional organizational, communication, and follow-up abilities. Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Comfortable meeting tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
