OverviewAs the conduit between the hospital’s medical staff and administration, you help keep operations running smoothly. You ensure the medical staff remains compliant with hospital, regulatory, and accreditation standards. You also oversee the organization and completion of appointments and reappointments, while providing essential administrative support to the organized medical staff.In this role, you make sure these and other key responsibilities are handled with efficiency and professionalism, reflecting the values of the Legacy community as a Medical Staff Specialist.ResponsibilitiesMedical Staff Specialist provides support to a hospital’s medical staff, serving as a liaison between the medical staff and Legacy Health hospital administration. They ensure the medical staff is compliant with application of hospital, regulatory and accreditation standards. Key Responsibilities: Organizing, coordinating and completing initial appointments, reappointments and/or requests for temporary privileges for medical staff members and allied health. Ensuring privileges delineated are appropriately. Providing general administrative support to the organized medical staff, which may include medical staff meetings, coordination of Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE), Participation in regulatory surveys Know and abide by the Medical Staff bylaws QualificationsEducation: College degree, college training, or formal coursework in business administration or academics preferred. Experience: Minimum two years relevant credentialing experience or equivalent, preferably in a like setting such as a health plan, clinic or hospital. Medical Coding experience is preferred. Skills: Medical terminology Medical Coding knowledge Strong critical thinking & problem-solving ability Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal); ability to problem solve and exercise diplomacy in handling situations of a sensitive and/or confidential nature Experience using MSOW or other credentialing software Superior organizational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and to prioritize tasks Ability to adapt and adjust to new or changing situations Knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation requirements and processes Commitment to provide excellent customer service Strong time management skills Ability to handle large volume of work Knowledge of privacy laws, regulations and national standards related to health plan credentialing and/or Medical Staff Services Licensure Certification in Certified Professional Medical Services Management or as Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) is preferred.
