Senior Design Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive Senior Design Engineer to lead technical initiatives on both innovative and existing engineering projects. You will take charge of projects from early concept stages and guide them through to final production, ensuring high standards of quality and adherence to timelines and budgets. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams under the guidance of the Engineering Manager, you will work directly with engineering team members to devise solutions that accomplish project objectives. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering A minimum of 3 years of design engineering experience within a manufacturing setting Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with ERP systems relating to Item, BOM, and Routing controls Experience with new product development and interaction with production processes Hands-on experience in structural design utilizing sheet metal, tubing, welding, and mechanical assemblies Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering projects Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks Experience in troubleshooting mechanical assemblies Essential Duties: Serve as the technical point of contact for both new and ongoing projects Prepare and sustain project scope documents, schedules, and timelines to ensure project adherence to deadlines and budget constraints Assess designs based on material selection, form, fit, function, cost, and reliability Oversee projects from conception to production, including design, testing, evaluation, and product release Lead engineering activities as directed by the Engineering Manager, including design creation, BOM development, and testing reviews Ensure compliance with FMVSS, ECE, ABS, and NFPA standards for new and existing products Develop and adhere to operating procedures following ISO standards Guide engineering projects to meet the established scope and satisfy customer demands with the help of additional support staff Collaborate with Operations on manufacturing capabilities, production timelines, and troubleshooting to facilitate efficient production Act as a technical resource for sales and customers regarding product specifications, applications, and troubleshooting Engage in field tests, market analysis, and research activities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and engage with individuals at all organizational levels to achieve project completions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Robust interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset Capacity to work independently and proactively Analytical skills to assess and resolve issues through data-driven approaches and root cause analysis Proactive approach to managing projects for optimal results Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ERP/MRP software Level of Independence: This role offers a substantial degree of autonomy, reporting directly to the Design Engineering Manager. Physical Demands: This position requires regular walking, talking, hearing, and manual dexterity to manipulate objects or operate controls. Standing, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead are also part of the role. Occasionally, lifting items up to 40 pounds may be necessary. The job includes frequent computer-based work, which requires periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Company Description: H.O.
