Responsibilities Maintain an orderly surgical field and consistently pass instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon. Anticipate and prioritize the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure. Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure. Maintain the surgical specimen in a manner that identifies and preserves it for pathology evaluation. Assist in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and departmental guidelines. In collaboration with a Registered Nurse, serve as a technical subject?matter expert for at least one tertiary specialty. Provide scrub services for major procedures in at least two surgical specialties, independently with high physician satisfaction. Prepare and conduct technical performance?oriented training related to specialty service. Serve as a preceptor to perioperative personnel rotating through the scrub role associated with their primary specialty (and/or second circulator on major tertiary procedures). Collaborate with surgeons and proactively address case needs when performing duties in either the scrub or second circulator roles. Assist in workflow process improvement activities, contribute to organizational effectiveness, and demonstrate career growth and development in collaboration with clinical leadership. Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. May have limited access to areas storing medications. Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions When directed by a clinical specialist, inventory and order specialty instruments and supplies unique to specialty. Participate in the clinical orientation of SPD staff, serving as a role model and technical resource. Dependable and reliable in performance of Surgical Tech I and II duties. Perform all tasks cost?effectively, participate in departmental performance improvement activities, meet education and certification requirements, uphold Orlando Health philosophy and objectives, contribute to organizational effectiveness, and demonstrate career growth and development. Education & Training High school graduate or equivalent. Successful Completion Of Surgical Technology training program; or Orlando Health training program Licensure / Certification Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification. Experience Four (4) years of surgical tech experience required, or holding a CST certification and two (2) years of surgical tech experience may substitute for the required experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
