Department: Human Resources Reports To: Payroll Supervisor Location: Newport, MN FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Applications are invited from candidates who reside within commuting distance of Newport, MN. Position Summary: As a Payroll Specialist II, you will play a crucial role in our Human Resources department by managing all aspects of payroll processing. This includes collecting, verifying, and maintaining accurate employee data, computing wages, and delivering timely payments to employees. You will also handle payroll-related inquiries, ensure compliance with policies and laws, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our payroll processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Process payroll efficiently and accurately using UKG and ADP Workforce Now while continually seeking ways to enhance our processes. Collect and verify employee data ensuring confidentiality and accuracy. Support benefits administration processes as needed. Research and resolve issues related to timekeeping transactions. Update payroll information for promotions, timekeeping changes, transfers, and terminations. Maintain employee records, tax information, and payroll transactions. Provide answers to employee questions regarding payroll, policies, procedures, and systems. Ensure adherence to company policies, applicable laws, and regulations. Collaborate with the Payroll Supervisor on special projects as required. Generate reports and maintain data integrity, assisting in the development of standardized reporting. Work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing or a related field. Experience with HR systems, especially ADP Workforce Now and UKG, is preferred. Strong knowledge of payroll principles and procedures. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with intermediate or higher Excel skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with employees effectively. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on follow-through and procedure adherence. Willingness to work overtime when necessary, including occasional nights and weekends. Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field. Bilingual in Spanish. Experience with payroll system upgrades, implementations, or integrations. A desire to grow within the role and contribute positively to the payroll department. Experience in supporting continuous improvement or automation initiatives. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This position involves frequent computer use, extended periods of sitting, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds. Schedule flexibility may be necessary during payroll processing cycles.
