Project Engineer - Water Resources Modeling Specialist

RK&K is looking for a dynamic and experienced Water Resources Modeler to lead and support stormwater and drainage modeling efforts on a variety of public and private sector projects. The successful candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of environmental regulations, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, and the permitting landscape. This role will involve collaboration with key regulatory agencies. Essential Functions: Lead modeling initiatives for key infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements and local municipal drainage enhancements. Develop, calibrate, and apply hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) models for stormwater systems, floodplain studies, roadway drainage, and watershed management using tools such as ICPR4/Stormwise, SWMM, and HEC-RAS. Prepare comprehensive drainage reports, stormwater master plans, and modeling documentation for client and agency submissions. Conduct QA/QC reviews and mentor junior engineers and modelers to foster team growth. Engage with regulatory agencies to support permit applications and regulatory approvals. Stay updated on Florida-specific modeling standards, methodologies, and environmental permitting requirements. Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or a related field. A minimum of 4 years of experience in stormwater or drainage modeling, especially with Florida-based projects. Proficiency in ICPR (particularly ICPR4/Stormwise), EPA SWMM, ArcGIS, and HEC-RAS. Familiarity with the FDOT Drainage Manual, ERP rules, and local permitting processes. A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida is required (or the ability to obtain within 6 months). Strong technical writing and communication skills. Preferred Skills and Experience: 8 years of experience in stormwater or drainage modeling with a robust background in Florida projects. A Master's degree in civil or environmental engineering. Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification.
