As an Administrative Assistant 1 in the Building and Construction division, you will work under the supervision of the Bureau Chief at our central office near Valley Junction in Des Moines, Iowa. You will work with our Elevator, Boiler, and Amusement Ride team to develop, implement, and maintain our inspection and licensing programs. We're looking for a motivated and organized professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality customer service. Successful candidates will possess the following skills and abilities: Working proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and editing software Possesses a high level of organization skills. Displays high standards of professional conduct. Detail-oriented and is highly responsive to colleagues and stakeholders. Vision to move programs and processes to a new efficient licensing platform. You will be an integral member of our team, providing administrative program assistance to the department in support of the agency's operations by: Provide customer assistance for permits, certifications, licensees and public. Support the department strategic communications plan. Develop outreach and communications social media strategies and content. Communication with professional boards. Writing, designing, and editing program manuals, public information, websites, and reports, etc. Utilize metrics in the preparation of strategic recommendations. Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field. A total of four years of education (as described in number one) and/or full-time experience in accounting, secretarial, or office support work collecting, compiling, reporting, examining and/or editing numerical data; coding and qualifying people for benefits, licenses, or other transactions; preparing and keeping budgetary accounts and projections; organizing and implementing office support operations; advising on procedural processes; or other work that provided direct support and exposure to substantive agency programs, where one year of full-time experience is equal to 30 semester hours of education. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Secretary 2, Clerk Specialist, Public Service Supervisor, Accounting Technician (any level), Purchasing Assistant, or Human Resources Technical Assistant Why Choose the State of Iowa?
