This Opportunity We are seeking a reliable and motivated Environmental Technician to join our team! In this role, you will perform sampling and monitoring duties, including the daily installation and collection of air sampling filters from stations across the Twin Cities. You will also support a variety of industrial service and environmental projects. Your Key ResponsibilitiesInstalls and collects environmental air sampling filters from air monitoring stations throughout the Twin Cities and delivers them to a laboratory. Collections occur 365 days of the year, which include holidays and weekends. The workday begins at 5:45 a.m.Conduct quarterly calibration and flow checks of the sample collectors.Effectively perform a variety of industrial service projects as assigned.Accurately and efficiently conduct environmental sampling (air, water, soil, sediment) projects as assignedPrepare daily diaries, reports, field sketches, post-incident closure reports of all project activity to ensure records are accurate and complete.Effectively communicate observations or concerns regarding health, safety, or work environment conditions to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor to ensure clear understanding and appropriate action.Assist with various duties including regular equipment checks, maintenance, and inventory; instrument calibration, facility maintenance, facility organization, snow removal, and other duties as assigned.Participate in Tailgate Safety Meetings, review the Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP) that summarizes the hazards of the proposed work, and follow appropriate PPE and other safety procedures.Occasionally required to work on a Saturday or Sunday. Who You Are Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED or 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experiencePossess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record, requiredProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwarePossess or have access to reliable means of transportation on a 24-hour basisU.S. Citizenship required. Proof must be provided upon hire. Preferred QualificationsActive OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and any applicable refreshersPossess fundamental knowledge of operating hand and power tools and understanding equipment mechanicsBasic knowledge of small engines, pumps, and blowersBe comfortable and able to work while wearing Level C Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes a full-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) along with Tyvek and Saranex suits Physical RequirementsAbility to function in work environments that sometimes include high heat; high humidity; extreme cold; roadway traffic hazards; on water (boat operations) and confined spaces.Occasional work wearing a respirator; infrequent work requiring supplied air, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and fully encapsulated protective suits.Adequate vision and hearing to safely see teammates hand signals and hear warning communication in low light.Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers (including reaching, grasping, twisting, pushing, and pulling).Walking on uneven surfaces & climbing stairs/ladders.Semi-frequent crouching, bending, stooping and twisting, occasionally in tight spaces.Sitting in a vehicle for up to three hours straight.Working while standing during a 12-hour workday.Frequently lifting up to 10 lbs. over an 8-hour period and occasionally up to 50 lbs. over a four-hour period.Occasionally lifting equipment that weigh approximately 40 pounds.
