Seeking an experienced Stepdown/PCU RN with EPIC, ACLS, and transplant care skills for a high-acuity transplant ICU at a major academic medical center. About the Role Join an experienced transplant team as a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (Travel Nurse) on nights in Columbus, Ohio. This travel nursing job places you in a busy abdominal transplant ICU (16 North) where you will care for adult transplant and high-acuity medical patients. Job Details / Travel Nurse Assignment Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus healthcare jobs / Ohio nursing jobs) Unit: 16 North - Transplant ICU (Abdominal Transplant Unit) Assignment Type: Travel Nurse Assignment (13-week travel contract) Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 - 07:30) — Night Shift PCU RN Hours per Week: 36 Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026) Estimated Weekly Pay: $1940-$2040/week Patient Population: Adults (transplant ICU / stepdown patients) Patient Ratio: 1:3 Charting / EMR: EPIC (experience with EPIC preferred) Weekend Coverage: Every other or every third weekend Float: Float required within the organization Call: On-call responsibilities required Qualifications / Job Requirements Minimum 2 years of RN experience with strong Stepdown/PCU background (PCU RN / Stepdown RN) Experience with transplant, renal, or other high-acuity medical patients preferred (renal transplant, liver transplant) Active Ohio RN license (compact or state) — required for nursing jobs in Ohio Current BLS and ACLS certifications Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program Proficiency with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation (telemetry RN skills) Experience with advanced respiratory support: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC Familiarity with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips Experience administering and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips Central line and PICC care and management Blood product administration experience Post-procedure recovery care (kidney biopsy, paracentesis) Ability to float to different units as needed within the facility Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role) Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a transplant ICU/PCU setting (PCU RN responsibilities) Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and intervene per protocol Administer and titrate cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips safely Provide advanced respiratory support and manage ventilatory adjuncts as needed Manage central lines and PICCs; administer blood products Support post-procedure recovery for kidney biopsies and paracentesis Document patient care accurately in EPIC and manage medications via Pyxis Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services Float to other units within the organization and participate in weekend/on-call rotations Advance your career with a challenging and rewarding travel nursing opportunity focused on transplant and high-acuity progressive care.
