We're looking for a true director-level member of the team that can still command respect in a subcontractor meeting if needed. I.e. two pairs of boots. Company Overview We are a boutique (15-person) real estate development firm specializing in the acquisition, design, and construction of high-quality ground-up condo and multifamily residential projects, as well as creative adaptive-reuse developments. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional living spaces through innovative design, disciplined execution, and sustainable building practices. We are currently seeking a Director of Construction to join our growing team and oversee construction operations across an expanding commercial and multifamily portfolio. Position Summary The Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction from pre-construction through project closeout. This leadership role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with design, quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical expertise, and experience managing multiple complex construction projects simultaneously. Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage all construction activities for multiple ground-up and adaptive-reuse projectsLead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and executionManage and mentor Project Managers, Construction Managers, and field teamsCollaborate with development, design, and finance teams throughout the project lifecycleNegotiate and manage contracts with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendorsEnsure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirementsMonitor construction progress and provide regular updates to ownership and leadershipIdentify and mitigate project risks, delays, and cost overrunsMaintain consistent quality control standards across all active projects Required QualificationsExperience with ground-up multifamily and adaptive-reuse developments10+ years of progressive construction experience, including commercial and/or multifamily projectsProven experience in a senior leadership or director-level construction roleDemonstrated ability to manage large budgets, schedules, and multiple projects concurrentlyStrong contractor negotiation and cost-control experienceStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsThorough knowledge of construction methods, building systems, and risk managementAbility to travel between job sites as needed Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related fieldProfessional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or LEEDProficiency in Microsoft Project, Procore, AutoCAD, and/or Revit BenefitsCompetitive base salary: $175,000 - $225,000Performance-based bonus potentialW-2 and 1099 options availableHealth, dental, and vision insurance availableOpportunity to work on high-quality, large-scale development projectsLong-term potential with a growing firm
