Owned by FOX Corporation, FOX News Media reaches 200 million people each month.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Desk Assistant position requires flexibility in scheduling, with the expectation that you will work a variety of non-traditional shifts including weekends, overnights, early morning hours, and holidays.A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESHelp in dispatching crews, tracking guest bookings, and managing crew locationsManage calls from internal and external sources to assist with information gatheringMonitor news, contact appropriate authorities to verify breaking news informationCollaborate with the Assignment Editor to follow up on developing news stories.Assist with logging DC-area news events with an emphasis on highlighting new developmentsMonitor wires, social media, and other broadcast networks for news developmentsReach out to agencies, government departments, and FOX personnel to gather and confirm informationWHAT YOU WILL NEEDBachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study preferred, or equivalent experienceStrong logistical and editorial abilities with an understanding of national and international politicsKnowledgeable about the various DC government agenciesAbility to initiate tasks independently as well as collaborate effectively with a teamCapable of working in a dynamic environment, multitasking, prioritizing tasks daily, and handling breaking news situationsMust be willing to work a variety of non-traditional shifts including weekends, overnights, early mornings, and holidays#LI-KC1We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
