Finance & Hr Operations Coordinator Benen is seeking a finance & hr operations coordinator to support the financial accuracy, compliance structure, and operational systems behind our hr and payroll functions. This role sits at the intersection of finance and hr and plays a critical part in maintaining strong internal controls, organized documentation, and audit-ready processes across a 50+ person civil engineering firm serving public agencies and government clients. You will work closely with the cfo and hr manager to ensure payroll, benefits, and compliance processes are accurate, well-documented, and aligned with company policies and financial standards. Key Responsibilities Support payroll processing and assist with payroll-related reconciliations Coordinate with finance to ensure payroll and benefit data accurately ties to the general ledger Maintain organized documentation for financial, workers' comp, 401(k), and external audits Assist with payroll tax tracking, benefit liability reconciliation, and reporting accuracy Help prepare and organize documentation for government contracting compliance requirements Ensure documentation aligns with company policies, procedures, and financial controls Hr Operations Support Manage onboarding paperwork and system setup (bamboohr, payroll system, benefits platform) Support open enrollment logistics and benefits reconciliation Maintain accurate personnel records and compliance tracking Respond to day-to-day employee process questions (timecards, pto balances, benefit elections, etc.) Assist with background checks, interview scheduling, documentation, and administrative follow-through What You Bring 3+ years of experience in payroll, accounting support, hr operations, or similar role Strong excel skills (pivot tables, lookup functions, reconciliations) Working knowledge of general ledger concepts and comfort interacting with financial systems Comfort working with numbers, documentation, and detailed reporting Experience supporting audits or financial documentation preferred Ability to learn and apply structured compliance requirements Professional discretion in handling confidential information Compensation & Benefits $70,000 $90,000 depending on experience Comprehensive benefits package including health and wellness benefits, retirement and profit-sharing contributions, paid time off and holidays, professional development support, and performance-based incentives consistent with company policy.
