This position ensures that technology infrastructure, digital learning tools, cybersecurity systems, and data platforms support high-quality teaching, learning, and district operations. The Director leads all aspects of district technology, including: Strategic technology planning Network and infrastructure management Cybersecurity and data protection Device lifecycle management Instructional technology integration Technology support services The Director collaborates with district leadership, school administrators, teachers, and community partners to ensure that technology supports instructional excellence, operational efficiency, and student success. Supports district priorities by: Ensuring reliable and equitable access to technology resources for students and staff. Supporting high-quality learning experiences through effective digital tools and infrastructure. Aligning technology initiatives with district strategic goals and continuous improvement efforts. Creating safe and secure digital environments for students and staff. Empowering staff through professional learning and responsive technology support. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Department Management Develop and implement a comprehensive district technology plan aligned with instructional and operational priorities. Establish measurable department objectives and monitor progress toward performance outcomes. Supervise technology department staff, including: Network administrators Systems specialists Help desk technicians Technology integration staff Foster a positive workplace climate through collaboration, communication, and professional growth. Establish clear performance expectations and accountability systems for technology employees. Implement recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for technology staff. Provide ongoing professional development aligned with department and district goals. Ensure annual performance evaluations for all technology department employees. Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining accountability for departmental outcomes. Technology Infrastructure and Systems Management Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of district-wide technology infrastructure. Ensure reliable operation of wired and wireless networks across all district facilities. Direct the management of: District servers Cloud-based systems Network infrastructure Enterprise technology systems Oversee student and staff device management, including deployment, maintenance, and replacement cycles. Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and minimize downtime. Maintain disaster recovery and system redundancy plans. Ensure secure and reliable access to district systems and resources. Instructional Technology and Digital Learning Support effective integration of technology into classroom instruction. Collaborate with curriculum and instructional leaders to support digital learning initiatives. Ensure availability and effective use of instructional technology platforms, including learning management systems. Support teachers and administrators in implementing digital tools that enhance learning. Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that support instruction and student engagement. Promote digital citizenship and responsible technology use among students and staff. Cybersecurity and Data Protection Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies to protect district networks and systems. Ensure compliance with federal and state data privacy laws, including FERPA and applicable Indiana regulations. Monitor network security systems to identify threats and vulnerabilities. Implement proactive cybersecurity practices, including: System monitoring Security updates Risk assessments Coordinate staff training related to cybersecurity awareness and best practices. Develop and maintain procedures for responding to cybersecurity incidents and data breaches. Ensure secure management of student and staff data systems. Financial and Resource Management Develop and manage the district technology department budget. Monitor expenditures related to: Hardware Software Licensing Infrastructure Technology services Identify cost efficiencies while maintaining high-quality technology services. Lead long-range technology replacement planning and lifecycle management. Ensure responsible stewardship of district technology resources. Pursue technology grants and funding opportunities when appropriate. Technology Support and Customer Service Ensure timely and effective technical support for district staff and students. Establish service standards and help desk systems that support efficient problem resolution. Maintain service expectations that prioritize responsiveness and customer satisfaction. Collaborate with building administrators to address building-specific technology needs. Utilize service data and feedback to improve technology support systems. Communication and Collaboration Serve as liaison between the technology department and district stakeholders. Communicate technology initiatives, updates, and expectations clearly to staff. Provide guidance to district leadership regarding technology strategy and planning. Collaborate with curriculum, operations, and administrative departments to support district initiatives. Maintain positive communication with vendors, service providers, and technology partners. Personnel Leadership and Culture Promote a collaborative, innovative, and solutions-focused departmental culture. Encourage continuous learning and professional growth among technology staff. Utilize staff feedback to improve department operations and workplace climate. Model district Mission, Vision, and Values in all professional interactions. Support leadership development within the technology department. Additional Responsibilities Participate in administrative meetings and district initiatives. Support district emergency response and crisis management planning. Provide technology leadership for district strategic initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. QualificationsEducation Bachelor's degree in: Information Technology Computer Science Educational Technology Information Systems Related field (required) Master's degree in Educational Technology, Information Systems, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred Licensure and Certifications Valid Indiana driver's license required Technology certifications preferred (such as Microsoft, Cisco, CISSP, CETL, PMP or CompTIA) Indiana Building Level Administrator or Comparable Technology-related Administration License preferred.
