As the Indirect Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for leading sourcing and procurement initiatives across indirect spend categories to support organizational efficiency, cost management, and supplier performance. In this role, you will support the transition to a centralized purchasing structure by aligning and consolidating procurement activities under one department. You will develop and execute sourcing strategies, lead supplier negotiations and contract management, and identify cost reduction opportunities through data-driven spend analysis. The Indirect Purchasing Manager will work cross-functionally with operations, finance, IT, HR, marketing, and other departments to ensure procurement strategies align with business objectives while maintaining compliance with corporate policies and risk management standards. This role also focuses on improving procurement processes, strengthening supplier partnerships, and implementing systems or tools that enhance procurement visibility, reporting, and operational effectiveness. Indirect Purchasing Manager Responsibilities Include: Support the transition to a centralized purchasing structure by aligning and consolidating procurement activities within one department. Develop and execute sourcing strategies for indirect spending categories including IT, marketing, professional services, facilities maintenance, utilities, MRO, fleet services, and office supplies. Conduct spending analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, vendor consolidation opportunities, and efficiency improvements. Lead RFP, RFQ, and contract negotiation processes with suppliers and service providers. Develop supplier scorecards and performance management processes to monitor vendor performance. Negotiate pricing, service levels, and contract terms to ensure favorable agreements for the organization. Monitor supplier performance, KPIs, and SLAs to ensure service and cost expectations are met. Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with key vendors and service providers. Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives across indirect spending categories. Track savings against annual procurement and cost reduction targets. Support budgeting and forecasting processes related to procurement activities. Evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO) when assessing supplier and sourcing decisions. Partner with operations, finance, IT, HR, and marketing teams to align procurement strategies with business needs. Support new site openings or expansion initiatives with vendor selection and contract execution. Provide procurement guidance and best practices to department leaders across the organization. Improve procurement processes, workflows, and documentation standards. Implement procurement systems, tools, or automation where appropriate to improve efficiency and visibility. Ensure compliance with internal approval processes, corporate policies, and audit requirements. Maintain accurate procurement documentation, reporting, and records. Leadership Responsibilities Include: Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service's DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision. Manage department revenue and costs within assigned budget; provide thoughtful recommendations and best practice solutions. Identify any gaps in processes and update procedures as required by system and/or process improvements. Execute the interview/hiring process of all direct reports and support the process of indirect reports. Complete goal setting, development plans, and annual reviews for reporting staff on a timely basis. Coach and train team members to understand duties, responsibilities, and performance with established expectations. Ensure adherence to operating procedures, legal and compliance regulations, and IT Policies to minimize risk. Promote a team member-driven culture including a focus on safety. Create and maintain open communication with team members, peers, management, and other departments. Indirect Purchasing Manager Qualifications and Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English. Must meet company background check and drug screen requirements. Strong analytical and financial acumen. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and procurement or ERP systems. Ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and accountable. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with multiple departments. Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required. MBA or relevant certifications (CPSM, CIPS, CPM) preferred. 5-8+ years of procurement or sourcing experience required. Experience in managing indirect spending categories required. Automotive, multi-location retail, or service industry experience preferred. Indirect Purchasing Manager Conditions and Physical Demands Include: This position is primarily performed in an office setting. Applicants must be comfortable sitting for extended periods of time. Position requires working onsite in Troy, MI four (4) days per week. Occasional travel to company locations or supplier sites may be required. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. May require occasional evening and/or weekend work.
