Preferred QualificationsJob Description Summary The University of South Alabama's Web Services department is seeking to hire a Web Design Specialist I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered. Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position. Essential Functions Assists the web development team in building and maintaining an active and effective public web presence for the University with a focus on both design and usability. Uses HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create/modify tools in the CMS (snippets, assets and components) designed to provide a more diverse look and feel to the present site and to meet the University's communications and marketing needs. Utilizes artistic design skills and technical development to ensure the website functions appropriately, is mobile responsive and meets accessibility requirements. Ensures that the website is compatible with all types of devices (mobile and desktop) and with all browsers. Has working knowledge of graphic design software Adobe Photoshop. Works with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat to create accessible PDFs. Works collaboratively with the IT and Marketing departments and content contributors. Performs SEO and accessibility audits of website including broken links checker and page structure for improvement and optimization. Works with faculty and staff to maintain program/department pages using the template-based content management system and ensures that accessible designs are implemented in the web content. Keeps up to date with the latest technology and programming trends. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. Related duties as required.
