Job SummaryShift Hours: 3pm - 11pm This job is in the Warehouse family (Department), which covers all positions the duties of which are to administer, supervise, or perform work involving the planning, directing, or operating of transportation equipment.. Yard Jockey position assists warehouse and trucking operations in preparing tractors and trailers for the safe, and efficient transport of steel sheets, coils, and structural products operating a flatbed or Conestoga trailer around the warehouse property. Physical Requirements Walk(Move, Traverse), Use hand/fingers to handle or feel (Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position), Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse), Talk/hear(Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information), See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess), Pushing or Pulling, Reaching, Repetitive Motion Function in the Job Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Job FunctionMove trailers in/out of shipping and receiving Bays. Communicates with drivers, warehouse personnel, and management to ensure accuracy and timeliness of load dispatch times. Performs various yard checks/audits on equipment and securement devices Completes individual daily loading sheets, dispatch forms, and other paperwork as necessary. Ensures that all required safety procedures are enforced. Auditing of truck loads to ensure proper securement and safety as required by DOT. Completes other related duties as assigned. Takes the initiative in periods of downtime to complete other duties and remain productive. Required Skills1-2 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required. High School diploma/GED preferred. Must possess a Valid Drivers License. Warehousing and material handling experience preferred. Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required. Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment. Clear oral and written communication skills, particularly legible handwriting required. Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required. Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required. Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required. Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers required.
