EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Possess Master's degree in Education or Special Education of Deaf Students; Master's degree in Speech and Language or appropriate ASHA certification; Possess Masters Degree in special education for Teacher Consultant position. Possess Michigan State Department of Education Certification; Michigan Teacher Consultant Endorsement - AI and EMI preferred; Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in special education in one or more areas (EI, LD, and CI.). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position will provide compensatory education services to students who have been identified through a specific determination process. Services would be in person and include remediation and supplemental instruction towards identified educational IEP goals. The settings and frequency at which the services are provided can be flexible. SSW Plan instruction, tutoring, practice and assessment in alignment with identified goals. Provide direct supplemental/remedial instruction services to identified students. Work with individual and small groups of students both within and outside of classrooms to assist students in achieving closing targeted academic goals. Implement best teaching practices to close the targeted academic gaps. Follow intervention plan (compensatory ed plan), monitor target students' performance, and collect data. Monitor and document student progress as evidenced by assessments and progress reviews. Other duties may be assigned. SLP Experience providing direct services, consultative services and instruction for students with significant communication and learning disorders, including autism. Experience with TEACCH, applied behavior analysis, PECS, social skills instruction. Knowledge of general education curriculum. Experience with augmentative communication devices. Experience conducting Functional Analysis of Behavior and writing Behavior Intervention Plans. Strong collaboration skills required. Supervision of Teacher Assistants. Data collection and progress monitoring required. Other duties may be assigned. Resource Room Understanding of SST process, general education interventions, and coordination. Successful background and experience working with students with learning disabilities and behavioral challenges. Serve as building contact person for community agencies. Successful background and practice collaborating with colleagues regarding program accommodations. Writing and implementation of a FAB/BIP. Successful background and experience working in a culturally diverse environment. Serve in support groups for students. Home and community visits. Regular and reliable attendance. Coordinates students services for special education including modification /accommodation, planning and oversight. Other duties as assigned. LANGUAGE SKILLS Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. REASONING ABILITY Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Interact with the public and other staff as required. Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.
