The driver will learn to operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck for intrastate and/or interstate routes, delivering various food products to customers. All routes must be completed safely according to Company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring all tasks are carried out according to preferred methods and customer service standards. Teamwork within the department and organization is essential, and any assigned duties will be performed with commitment to the company. Position Responsibilities: Complete the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. Maintain all required training documentation. Assist and learn from the driver trainer while making deliveries. Follow all instructions provided by the trainer. Conduct necessary safety checks, including pre/post trip inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer as per DOT regulations, addressing any safety issues. Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safety driving policies. Report any safety hazards immediately. Inspect the trailer to ensure freight is loaded and secured properly. Perform counts and verify delivery documents for accuracy before departing. Deliver customer orders on a predetermined route, unloading products and transporting them to designated storage areas. Check for damaged items during delivery, communicate with the supervisor about any discrepancies, and ensure proper delivery confirmations are obtained. Secure the trailer and freight at all times to ensure safety and integrity. Manage damaged goods and customer returns according to company policy and complete any necessary paperwork. Maintain accurate logs of hours of service following Federal DOT, state, and company regulations. Keep the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers clean and organized throughout the shift, securing equipment at the end of the day. Perform other related duties as assigned to support company functions. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent For Internal PFG Candidates: 1 year of good standing service as part of the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program; must be able to obtain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card For External Entry Level Hire: 0-6 months of experience with a CDL Valid CDL A required Must be at least 21 years of age Meet all State licensing and certification requirements (where applicable) Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years Pass post-offer drug test Pass road test Current valid DOT Health Card Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move freight cases weighing between 60 to 90 pounds.
