Senior Estimator - Mechanical ConstructionLocation: Portland, OR Salary: $115,000-$145,000 DOE Job Type: Full-Time About the Opportunity HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for a Senior Estimator on behalf of a well-established mechanical contracting firm serving the Pacific Northwest. This role will focus exclusively on estimating commercial mechanical construction projects and will work closely with project management and sales teams to support new project pursuits. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in reviewing drawings, preparing competitive bids, and helping position the company for continued growth in the Portland market. Once projects are awarded, work will transition to the Project Management team for execution. This position reports to the Estimating Manager and is primarily office-based in Portland, with a hybrid schedule that includes four days in the office and one day per week working remotely. Key Responsibilities • Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents for commercial mechanical projects • Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bids for mechanical construction work • Collaborate with project managers and sales teams during the pursuit and preconstruction phases • Evaluate project scope and identify potential risks or opportunities during the estimating process • Develop accurate material, labor, and subcontractor cost projections • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and scope clarification • Participate in internal bid reviews and strategy discussions • Maintain organized estimating documentation and historical cost data • Support project handoff to the Project Management team once work is awarded • Provide technical insight to help improve estimating accuracy and efficiency Qualifications • 5+ years of estimating experience within mechanical construction • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems • Proven experience estimating commercial construction projects • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents • Experience working with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors during the bid process • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills • Effective written and verbal communication abilities • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deadlines Mechanical construction experience is required for this role. Experience working with either union or non-union contractors is acceptable.
