The Director of Medical/Surgical Services is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and overall management of the Medical and Surgical Units. This role ensures the delivery of safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care while promoting quality outcomes, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The Director provides oversight of clinical operations, staffing, performance improvement, and adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards. This position collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and executive leadership to support organizational goals and ensure continuity of patient care. Responsibilities include managing departmental operations, budgeting, workforce planning, and implementing evidence-based nursing practices. The Director oversees the recruitment, development, and supervision of nursing and support staff and leads initiatives to improve patient outcomes, staff engagement, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency. The Director also monitors quality indicators, participates in performance improvement activities, and ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing BSN required MSN or master's degree in a related field preferred 7-10 years of acute care experience required, with critical care experience preferred Minimum of five (5) years of management or supervisory experience Current RN license in the state of practice Current BCLS and ACLS certification upon hire The Director must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills and the ability to manage staff, resources, and patient care operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
