Position Details Position Start Date 6/15/2026 Terms/Schedule Summer Appointment Type Summer Description PRIMARY FUNCTION Primary responsibilities involve assisting with the planning, organization, supervision and evaluation of the summer Playground program. The normal work period for this position is 7 weeks (8 weeks if a tournament is scheduled). MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Read and apply information in the Manual of Recreation Material for Summer Playgrounds. 2. Attend all training, workshops and meetings. 3. Prepare schedule of the summer sessions. 4. Current First Aid and CPR certification required 5. Keep Playground Clean and Safe 6. Playgrounds must be supervised at all times. 7. Check play equipment daily when you arrive at your site to make sure it is safe for use. RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Submit yearly report to Playground Supervisors 2. Submit weekly attendance reports to the Playground Supervisors 3. Notify the Playground Supervisors of needed supplies 4. Monitor dress code as spelled out in the manual 5. Recruit responsible volunteers to assist on playground assigned task. 6. Report all accidents, destruction of property and violations of rules to the Playground Supervisors. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Report all absences in a timely manner to Playground Supervisors. 2. Be responsible for keys to assigned area or school 3. Other duties as appropriate to the position and/or assigned by the Playground Supervisors. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Include but are not limited to: 1. Training: High school diploma supplemented by college-level courses and/or experience in Playground Supervision or education or related fields. 2. EXPERIENCE: Some experience in education is helpful but not necessary. Experience in Playground Supervision instruction is a definite requirement for this position. 3. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ETC: Personality characteristics and skills consistent with the demands of this position; organizational leadership, communication and artistic skills; ability to deal with staff, young people and their parents tactfully and courteously. Ability to lead a group of students in an active learning environment. Must posses a valid driver's license. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
