Job Description Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance of VITAS offices and inpatient locations within a portion of the State of Florida. This is a key position for reporting issues, concerns and follow up on contracted services performance. The Facility Maintenance Technician will assist in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment by performing a variety of minor, semi-skilled electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and flooring repairs. The position will monitor outside contractors at work in various skilled repairs/replacements. 75 % travel in the Central and West coast and Northeast coast of Florida. Vehicle and tools provided. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with VITAS Healthcare Corporation's policies, procedures, guidelines, contractual commitments and governmental regulations. • Perform routine facility inspections of office and inpatient units (IPU) and report on the condition affecting operations and suggests additional repairs identified & needed • Support any after-hours building needs and activities as required. • Be onsite during critical repairs being performed by outside vendors and immediately report results of work completed or stage of in-process • Be able to travel around portions of the State of Florida • Completes or coordinates building board-ups before hurricane watches and removals afterwards • Respond to emergencies • Prepare and submit summary of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken. • Read, interpret and understand sketches, diagrams and contractor bids • Assist in the repair and maintenance of electrical lighting systems and fixtures, such as changing ballast and bulbs • Repair and replace interior plumbing fixtures as requested • Monitor and assist in the coordination of transfer of office cubes and furniture from our regional warehouse to any of our facilities • Cleans all VITAS Facilities on a regular basis • Paint and Patch interior and exterior surfaces, as needed • Regularly performs various minor landscaping tasks, as needed • Repairs equipment & various machines/appliances (ice/water dispensers, patient beds, furniture, etc... • Deliver excellence in "Customer Service" to our office staff • Attend training sessions and seminars as required • Perform related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experience: • 2-4 years of related experience in commercial property maintenance with strong work ethic • Strong mechanical aptitude of mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and HVAC • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing • Well focused and organized with attention to detail • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage resources • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as part of a rotating emergency contact schedule • Ability to review and understand equipment and methods of operation, fire/life safety procedures and requirements • Initiative in job knowledge with willingness to improve • Ability to work on various assignments simultaneously • Strong interpersonal skills within all levels of the organization • Ability to navigate within automated systems and proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel Education: Completion of high school or basic education equivalency required.
