Thank you for your interest in our Director of School Nutrition positionJob Summary: The Director of School Nutrition is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school/kitchen/office environment, overseen by the Executive Director of School Support, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount. All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Director of School Nutrition Department Salary Schedule: State Based Plus Local Supplement Department: School Nutrition Department Job Code: 663050 Reports To: Executive Director of School Support Work Schedule: 240 days per year/8 hours per day Grade/Level: L/S 240 FLSA: Exempt Primary Function: Ability to supervise the implementation of program standards to ensure nutritionally sound programs which comply with all state and federal laws, and State and Paulding County Board of Education policies. Demonstrated record-keeping and report preparation techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to operate a computer and assigned software. Inventory techniques. Working Conditions: Physical Demands: Office Environment Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard Constant Interruptions Hearing and speaking to exchange information Seeing to read a variety of materials Sitting and standing for extended periods of time Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials Qualifications: Must qualify for or poses a Georgia School Nutrition Director level 5 certification as required by the State of Georgia Minimum of bachelor's degree in food service management, nutrition, dietetics, or family consumer science Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in school nutrition, hospital dietetics or home economics teaching The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions: Interprets and guides the implementation of standards, policies, and regulation for the program as set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture, the Georgia Department of Education, and the Paulding County Board of Education Conducts annual program reviews in all schools and makes commendations and/or recommendations related to improvements Sets short- and long-term goals for the program and evaluates progress Supervises and reviews all reports and claims required by USDA, GDOE, and PCSD Establishes and maintains an automated system for cash collection procurement, record keeping, inventory, including trouble shooting of all SNP automated equipment Writes and updates bid specifications for all food and non-food items, supervises the preparation of bid documents, reviews bid tallies and monitors weekly orders and deliveries for compliance with the bid agreement Writes bid specifications for all small and large equipment, obtains, and evaluates bids and coordinates installation of any equipment purchased Maintains physical inventories of all depreciable equipment Evaluates equipment utilization and conducts annual equipment needs assessment and acquires needed equipment within specified budget for new facilities and for existing facilities Develops, prepares, and maintains annual department budget Supervises the maintenance of all SNP records including accounting, nutrition education, staff training and personnel Supervises the allocation of USDA food and monitors USDA food usage within the schools Initiates plans for maximum food and supply utilization Allocates labor hours to the local schools for SNP operation Works with PCSD staff and architects on new facilities and renovation projects including the evaluation of blueprints and recommends changes as needed Plans, facilitates, and conducts staff development for SNP staff as determined by needs assessment, observation and GDOE regulations Utilizes team approach in interviewing and recommending applicants to the Board for employment Conducts annual performance evaluations of SNP clerical staff and managers Trains SNP managers on the evaluation process for local SNP staff and reviews annual evaluations Assists SNP managers with personnel related issues Revises and updates SNP salary schedules as necessary Monitors all expenditures and revenues for SNP, prepares and distributes monthly financial records for all SNP units Serves as a resource regarding nutrition to teachers, staff, and community Attends required local, district, state and national meetings, workshops, and training sessions necessary to efficiently maintain a financially self-sufficient nutrition program for the district Prepares annual SNP Safety Plan for the district and represents SNP by serving on the district safety committee Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of designee Applicants will be selected for interview.
