We are currently seeking hardworking and detail-oriented individuals to join us as Combination Drivers/Dockworkers. This crucial role involves ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of customer freight. As a Dockworker, you'll efficiently load and unload freight while contributing to our overall warehouse operations. As a driver, you'll be responsible for delivering freight between service centers and customer locations. Job Summary This position entails loading and unloading freight at the service center and delivering it by tractor-trailer to company service centers or customer locations based on freight availability. You will use a forklift for loading/unloading, as well as manual methods, in a safe and efficient manner. When driving, you will transport safely within the designated geographic area. Flexible scheduling options are required, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Primary Responsibilities Load and unload freight using motorized forklifts or manually, adhering to all DOT guidelines. Transport freight throughout the service center on various surfaces. Utilize Dock Yard Management System to monitor freight locations. Interpret shipping labels and handle freight forms. Hand load, rewrap, or stack freight as needed. Ensure the quality of loading trailers. Secure freight within trailers using proper tools and supplies. Maintain regular communication with service center personnel. This is not a complete list of duties; all employees are expected to perform assigned tasks. Driver Responsibilities Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with DOT regulations. Meet medical standards set by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Load and unload freight, utilizing various techniques as needed. Transport throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces. Utilize Dock Yard Management System consistently. Read and interpret shipping documents and freight forms. Perform frequent handling and securing of freight. Be available for work to meet customer schedules. This is not a complete list of responsibilities; all employees must be prepared to fulfill assigned duties. Job Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience: Ability to read, write, speak English, and perform basic math. Valid CDL-A with hazardous material and twin/triple trailer endorsements. Acceptable motor vehicle record. 12 months of previous tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of an approved driving school. Effective communication skills. Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems. Knowledge of DOT regulations. Ability to meet U.S. Department of Transportation's medical standards. Ability to pass required drug and alcohol tests. Must be at least 22 years of age. Physical Demands Must be able to sit for extended periods while driving. Ability to walk and stand for up to 8 hours on various surfaces. Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of materials. Capable of lifting and handling objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work in varying climatic conditions. Regular attendance is required. Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmissions. Work Environment Employees will experience varying work environments including loading and unloading areas, enclosed vehicles, and exposure to different weather conditions and noise levels.
