Job Summary To perform varied payroll duties within the Finance Department for various County departments. Key Responsibilities Maintain the County's timekeeping system and perform quality control reviews for specific departments. Create and/or maintain training documentation and training videos for timekeeping/payroll systems as well as updating documents on payroll website. Provide payroll related training to managers and employees. Setup newly hired employees with access to Employee Self Service website and collect Biometrics for timeclocks. Prepare and distribute payroll reports as requested. Maintain various payroll spreadsheets. Prepare and enter historical edits needed in timekeeping system. Proof personnel action entries in HR/Payroll systems and make necessary payroll related updates. Monitor employees that are out on FMLA, short term disability, or workers comp and verify timecards are updated. Monitor missed payroll deductions and notify HR/Payroll when deductions can be taken. Create and maintain payroll personnel files. Assist with enrollment into the Wisconsin Retirement System as well as record maintenance. Perform other tasks and special projects as requested. Act as back up for other Finance Department duties. Supervision Received: Receives supervision from the Payroll Manager. Qualifications Associate degree in Business Administration or related field and two (2) years of recent payroll experience. Recent is defined as within the past five (5) years. Prompt and regular attendance. Some holidays and weekends required. Excellent customer service and problem solving skills. Or any equivalent combination, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. Knowledge Skills & Abilities Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications. Familiarity with Kronos/UKG Workforce Management and/or Telestaff is desired. Detail oriented and able to perform work timely with accuracy. Well organized, flexible and able to work independently. Ability to work in a confidential environment. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and the general public.
