I. BASIC FUNCTION: As an unarmed security guard, acts as a facility monitor of the premises of FCHC, both inside and outside, of any escalating problems and reporting to Site Supervisors and local Police thus helping to provide a safe, secure environment for patients, employees, visitors and others at Family Care Health Centers. All employees of FCHC must ensure service standards are delivered, including: FCHC Core • Demonstrates a commitment to FCHC mission and vision. • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards patients, employees, role, and the health center. • Demonstrates FCHC core values (accountability, courtesy, excellence, flexibility, integrity, respect). II. INTRADEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS: Department Officer: Chief Operations Officer Reports to: Operations Director and/or Patient Access Manager Supervises: None JOB DESCRIPTION DEPARTMENT: HEALTH OPERATIONS JOB TITLE: SECURITY GUARD (UNARMED) SECURITY GUARD (UNARMED) Page 2. III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Monitors inside and outside of premises for any disturbances, theft, vandalism, etc. via security cameras and walk throughs. a) Contacts supervisor and police immediately of any such disturbances. b) Makes at least one (1) outside and one (1) inside monitor walk around entire facility per hour ensuring the safekeeping of FCHC property, patients, and staff. c) Never uses bodily harm to diffuse any situation. 2. Monitors and assists staff to and from their cars to deter any impending harm. a) Contacts supervisor and police immediately of any such disturbances. b) Monitors each employee walking to and from their cars. c) Available for each employee request to be escorted to and from vehicles, especially during evening hours. 3. Consistently completes reports on all major and minor occurrences (ie. Thefts, disgruntled patients, vandalism, etc.) in a timely efficient manner. a) Completes reports on all incidents. b) Reports to be completed within 24 hours of occurrence. 4. Thoroughly investigates each incident submitted on reports in order to present a complete picture of what has taken place. a) Investigates each occurrence in a timely fashion. b) Follows-up where necessary on all occurrences. c) Helps make recommendations on submitted reports on resolving and possibly deterring such future incidents. 5. Consistently opens and closes Center, arms and disarms alarm system at established hours thus securing the facility at both the beginning and ending of patient hours. a) Daily, disarms alarm and unlocks doors at beginning of day at the scheduled time. b) Turns on lights at beginning of day during initial walk-through. c) Turns off lights at end of day during final walk-through. d) Daily, locks all appropriate internal and external doors and arms the alarm system. 6. Consistently conducts and portrays positive image of self, department and Center. a) Consistently conducts self in a friendly, professional manner. Appearance is neat and clean. b) Complies with confidentiality of relevant information pertaining to patients and other Center staff. 7. Takes initiative to ensure a clean environment of site by providing janitorial support and general housekeeping of facility. 8. Provides support to other Operations functions as needed. 9. Accepts, signs for, and distributes delivered packages. SECURITY GUARD (UNARMED) Page 3. IV. PERIODIC DUTIES: 1. Contributes to Health Center community health activities outside of regular job responsibilities. 2. Assists maintenance staff with ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees by attending to outside areas by posting safety signage and promptly reporting hazards. May be requested to assist with throwing salt on sidewalks or surrounding access points to FCHC buildings, shoveling snow of sidewalks, marking iced over spots on sidewalks, or providing other assistance as directed by supervisor in order to facilitate a safe environment during adverse weather events. 3. Participates in Health Center staff problem solving groups. 4. Attends and participates in department meetings, etc. as assigned. 5. Performs other duties as assigned. V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Inside Health Center: All inclusive. Outside Health Center: Patients/Clients, students, vendors, community health agencies, hospitals, insurance companies, Medicare/Medicaid, physician offices, etc. VI. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate required. 2. One (1) year medical office work experience or equivalent preferred. 3. Security officer experience is beneficial, but not necessary. 4. Ability to work a rotating and periodically split-shift schedule. 5. Clean police record. 6. Must possess excellent customer service skills. SECURITY GUARD (UNARMED) Page 4. VII.
