Travel Operating Room RN We are seeking an experienced Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-performing surgical team. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care using the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The OR RN plays a critical leadership role in the operating room, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient outcomes. This position requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment. Key Responsibilities Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the surgical setting Provide direct perioperative patient care while ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes Effectively delegate, direct, and support licensed and ancillary team members Serve as a collaborative partner on the interdisciplinary healthcare team Identify patient and family education needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies Utilize data and clinical knowledge to improve patient outcomes and support departmental goals Promote a culture of professional accountability, teamwork, and patient-centered care Maintain compliance with federal, state, and regulatory standards, including accreditation requirements Support initiatives that enhance patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and clinical excellence Perform other duties as assigned EducationRequired Registered Nurse Diploma Preferred Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) ExperienceRequired Experience handling confidential patient information Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision Experience using EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system Basic computer proficiency Preferred Prior leadership or charge nurse experience Experience supervising or mentoring team members CertificationsRequired Active RN License in the State of Louisiana or a Compact (Multistate) RN License Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Preferred Certification in a clinical specialty area (CNOR or related) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong organizational and prioritization skills Excellent time management and attention to detail Sound clinical judgment and decision-making ability Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to lead, delegate, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Self-motivated and able to work independently Work Environment & Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, and movement within the operating room environment Ability to exert 50-100 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently, and 10-20 pounds continuously when assisting with patient movement and equipment Routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and medical waste Compliance & Equal Opportunity Employees must remain knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements related to healthcare delivery.
