This position plays a vital role in the maintenance and upkeep of approximately 340 buildings under the Area Maintenance Department. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:Plumbing: Repair and install commodes, lavatories, water fountains, garbage disposals. Unstop sewer lines and drains, repair leaks, repair/replace faucets. Electrical: Replace Light bulbs. Repair/replace ballasts, receptacles, switches, and fans. Replace motors, pumps, etc. Appliance Repair: Repair washing machines, dryers, ice machines and refrigerators. Carpentry: Repair doors, door closers, hinges, cabinet doors, knobs, baseboards, cabinets, furniture, door stops, windows, etc. Refrigeration: Performs preventive maintenance and maintenance to A/C units and air handlers. Clean coils; work on pumps to air handlers and motors, chill water valves, controls, belts and filters. Keep check on hot water temperatures and maintain log. Run and service generators and maintain log. Inspects fire extinguishers monthly and maintains a log. Position-Specific Details:Location: Pinecrest Supports and Services Center - Area Maintenance Shift: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Pass Days: Sat/Sun Appointment Type: This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer or Detail to Special Duty. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.
