Salary: $11.00 - $18.00 Hourly Location : Holland, MI Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 202400158 Department: Parks & Recreation Division: Parks/Recreation Opening Date: 01/26/2026 Closing Date: 4/1/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Description The Greenhouse and Utility Crew Worker supports the daily operations of the City's greenhouse and parks maintenance activities. This position assists with plant care, planting, landscape maintenance, and general utility work across parks, facilities, and public spaces. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team to maintain safe, attractive, and functional public spaces for the community. Examples of DutiesAssist with greenhouse operations including planting, watering, transplanting, and general plant care Support seasonal flower production for parks, medians, and City facilities Assist with planting, mulching, weeding, and general landscape maintenance in parks and public areas Perform general utility work including cleaning public restrooms, minor repairs, setup, and takedown of equipment and materials Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting plants, tools, and supplies Operate hand tools, small power equipment, and light maintenance equipment as trained Maintain clean and organized work areas in the greenhouse and at job sites Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment Work cooperatively with full time staff and seasonal employees Provide courteous and professional interaction with the public when encountered Typical QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age Comfortable driving a City pickup truck and transporting plants, tools, and materials between work sites Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to approximately 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to follow instructions, work independently when needed, and contribute positively to a team environment Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Willingness to learn and follow City policies and procedures Supplemental Information Work is performed both indoors in a greenhouse setting and outdoors in parks and public spaces Exposure to weather conditions, dirt, pollen, noise, and typical maintenance hazards Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions required This position is not eligible for benefits.
