The American Red Cross is seeking a passionate individual to coordinate and support disaster event based volunteers during critical operations. This vital role focuses on recruiting, onboarding, and managing volunteers to ensure effective disaster response efforts. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies for disaster event based volunteers (D-EBVs), local community volunteers (LCVs), and partner organizations to meet staffing requirements. Utilize the DRO shift tool to effectively schedule D-EBVs and non-disaster LCVs to cover required shifts. Boost volunteer engagement by overseeing attendance rosters, collaborating with the Engagement Liaison to ensure volunteers receive comprehensive onboarding and appreciation following their contributions. Keep precise records in the DRO Shift Tool, including posting new shift opportunities, managing cancellations, and tracking volunteer attendance. Assist in establishing and running a Volunteer Intake Center to simplify the volunteer registration process. Support volunteer screening and scheduling activities at the Volunteer Intake Center. Time Commitment: The workload varies based on the scale of disaster relief efforts, with a minimum expectation of 8-12 hours per day over consecutive days. For larger operations, you may work 12-hour shifts for extended periods, depending on the needs of the response. Commitment lengths will vary by operation.
