Join our dynamic team at Whole Foods Market! As a Grocery Buyer and Inventory Specialist, you will play a vital role in ordering, replenishing, and merchandising grocery products while participating in our purchasing and sales initiatives. Your keen eye for inventory control will help us maintain optimal stock levels and ensure top-notch customer service. In this position, you will compile orders for perishable and non-perishable grocery items, manage purchase orders, and keep waste and spoilage to a minimum. You'll collaborate with your colleagues to organize promotional displays and uphold our standards for product quality and customer experience. Key Responsibilities Undergo thorough Order Writer training to excel in your role. Follow best practices in replenishing grocery products through efficient buying procedures. Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained through accurate orders and inventory monitoring. Proactively manage open purchase order reports for both purchases and credits. Participate in managing spoilage and shrink through inventory controls and count cycles. Complete necessary inventory processes, including spoilage assessments and temperature monitoring. Effectively manage customer special orders to enhance their experience. Analyze product transfers and waste to optimize inventory. Help conduct inventories, collaborating with leadership to maintain accurate stock counts. Work toward financial goals by contributing to purchasing and sales targets. Exhibit professionalism and engagement, arriving on time and ready for work. Deliver exceptional customer service and respond promptly to customer inquiries. Maximize sales through effective stocking, prepping, and merchandising of products. Adhere to safety and cleanliness protocols in compliance with established procedures. Complete assigned opening, mid, and closing duties with accuracy. Report any safety hazards or violations immediately. Perform additional tasks as delegated by store or regional leadership. Job Skills Strong knowledge of grocery products and merchandising standards. Ability to educate the team on product knowledge and foster enthusiasm. Basic math skills essential for inventory management. Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems. Excellent communication skills and teamwork capability. Strong sense of customer service and the ability to meet expectations. Effective time management and adherence to directions and procedures. Understanding of and alignment with our quality standards. Experience At least 12 months of retail experience required. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Capacity to stand or walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday. Use of hands for gripping, fine manipulation, and equipment operation. Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach during work tasks. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures. Flexibility to work in wet or cold environments. Willingness to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Experience using tools and equipment such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks.
