Transportation Senior Engineer

About the Job Summary Provides coordination of project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Essential Responsibilities:Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule. Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work. Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives. Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline. Writes proposals for future work. Assists with project management duties; maintains strong working relationships with clients and agency personnel. Attends project coordination meetings with client and other project disciplines. Meets with agency staff to coordinate on project needs and to resolve issues. Learns and stays knowledgeable of local agency requirements, applicable codes, and plans approval processes. Attends a minimum of eight hours per year of technical and eight hours per year of managerial continuing education. Maintains proficiency with productions software. Updates staff on what was learned. Meets all requirements for Project Engineer. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Experience using Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, VISTRO, VISSIM and similar software. Proficient in CAD software, Civil 3D, and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and Project). Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral communications. Must be able to read and comprehend detailed correspondence and reports. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Transportation/Traffic Division:Preliminary Design Reports. Traffic Studies. Traffic Models/Simulations. Traffic Signal Design. Arterial and freeway design including roadside safety. Utility Coordination. Addressing utility/agency/project manager red lines and comments to plans. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelors of Science degree in appropriate engineering discipline. Minimum seven (7) years of experience in engineering design and/or project management. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations This position requires a Nevada Professional Engineer license, or capable of acquiring in six (6) months after hire. Valid driver's license.
