The technologist produces sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. They assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures. Essential Job Functions include: Performs complex CT procedures. Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient clinical history. Ensures information is documented and scanned into appropriate systems. Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire. Identifies and administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Reviews patient prescriptions to verify appropriateness of exams. Communicates with Radiologist and Referring Physician for additional clinical information. Verifies insurance authorized exam scripts. Obtains outside studies and schedules them in the system for comparison by Radiologists. Provides exam copies to patients and requests from physicians or family members. Evaluates radiographs using the PACS System to ensure proper identification. Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information. Assesses whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure. Preps patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization. Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered. Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients. Addresses and documents patient questions and concerns. Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures. Monitors patient physical conditions for any adverse reactions during procedures. Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends. Adheres to policies related to attendance and punctuality. Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours. Identifies and addresses the needs of the patient population served. Communicates effectively at the appropriate level for the patient. Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
